Centralia Regional Library District (CRLD) recently received notification, from Secretary of State, Jesse White, awarding the library district a FY2020 grant for $10,000 in support of its application entitled, Project Next Generation – Learning for the Future. Funds for this grant are from the Illinois State Library using federal Library Services and Technology Act funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
During this grant period, CRLD plans to give participants opportunities to learn skills beneficial to their futures, while in a safe environment. Registration will be online and will open in September. The first of four, five-week, sessions, will begin in October. The overall purpose will be to help prepare participants for their futures. Participants will be in 5th-8th grade and will meet after school, two afternoons a week. There will be family events, funded with the grant, throughout the year which the public will be invited to attend.
This year’s grant includes purchases of a 3D printer and photography equipment.
