Centralia Regional Library District, at 515 East Broadway, will reopen on Monday, June 29, 2020, with limited hours and with masks required.
Library hours beginning June 29, 2020, will be Monday – Friday, 10:00am–6:00pm; with 10:00–11:00am reserved for patrons age 65 and over, and those defined by the CDC as vulnerable or at-risk. The library will be limiting the number of patrons who are allowed in the building at one time. Everyone will be required to enter through the front entrance; the back lobby doors will be used as exit doors only. Hand sanitizer, wipes, and masks will be available. The Centralia Regional Library is using safety guidelines from the Illinois Heartland Library System and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
Know before you go:
- Curbside is still available by appointment only. Starting Monday, June 29th, there will be one space reserved for curbside pickup on the parking lot facing the Band Shell. Patrons are able to place requests online at www.centralialibrary.org using their SHARE account or by completing the online request form. Library staff will call to set up a time for pick up.
- Use the outdoor book return. All books, DVDs and other items should be returned in the outdoor return. The indoor book return is closed. Returned items will be quarantined for three days before being checked in and returned to circulation. The Centralia Regional Library District does not charge late fees.
- Leave your bags in the car. Patrons may not bring bags into the building. Plastic bags will be provided at checkout.
- Sanitize your hands before entering the building and sanitize your hands often. Sanitizer is available throughout the library.
- Masks or face-coverings will be required for everyone 2 years of age and older. Bandannas, non-medical masks, scarves, and cloth may be used. We have masks available for free for anyone who does not have one.
- One child per adult.
- Children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Keep a safe distance. One person per aisle in the stacks while looking for books. Maintain a distance of 6 feet at all times.
- 30 minute time limit. There is a 30 minute limit per patron per day for browsing, checkout, and other services.
- The Learning Center in the Children’s Library will remain closed. All toys, games and puzzles have also been put away.
- Computer use by appointment only. Computer use limited to one 60 minute session per patron per day. Only 6 computers will be available for use.
- One person per computer. No doubling up or sitting together at the computers as this will not enable safe distancing from other patrons.
- No staff assistance available in the computer lab. There will be no one-on-one appointments or personal assistance at the public computers.
- Printing, copying, and faxing services will be available.
During the shutdown, patrons have been able to check out digital materials, including books, audiobooks, magazines, and movies. The Centralia Regional Library has also been offering curbside pickup service since June 1, 2020. The Summer Reading Challenge began June 1st, using the Beanstack app, so that families can track reading and earn badges virtually. Children who complete the challenge will be entered into the prize drawing in August. Summer Reading Registration and information is available at www.centralialibrary.org/2020/05/summer-reading.
